The Duo-Lase Difference
Duo-Lase is our laser treatment for gum disease, and for many patients an alternative to traditional gum surgery. After your teeth have been cleaned by our hygienists, we use two lasers. An Nd:YAG laser removes the bacteria that cause the disease and calms inflammation in the gum, while a diode laser supports healing in the gum and bone.
Treatment starts with a microbiological test, so we know which bacteria are behind your gum disease before we plan anything. Most patients have around 10 laser sessions, up to three a week. Sessions are usually carried out without anaesthetic, and there's no downtime afterwards.

Gum treatment at our practice is led by Dr. Ole Behrens, principal dentist with a special interest in gum treatment and implant surgery. Dr. Ole Behrens is a third-generation dentist and developed the Duo-Lase protocol. He graduated in Kiel, Germany, where he was an Assistant Professor at the Clinic of Prosthetics and Material Research and gained his PhD in Maxillofacial Surgery.
He works alongside Dr. Lior Burg and Dr. Georgios Kolaitis, who holds a master's degree in Periodontology and treats our gum disease patients. Mimi Chohan-Tuft and Prash Vijayan, our Periodontal Treatment Coordinators, are who you'll speak to about whether Duo-Lase could help you.
